Palasbari Embankment

Palasbari is one of the most vulnerable locations in Assam where heavy erosion took place every year. Protection of the Palasbari town and its adjoining areas has become very necessary. Apart from protection works taken up, a new embankment of 5 km along the Brahmaputra has been constructed under Tranche I by FREMAA, funded by ADB. The construction works started in 2014 and was completed in July, 2017. The embankment and protection works in Palasbari has been successful in saving lives of the people of Palasbari, their agriculture land, produce and livestock and livelihood. Apart from these, the LGBI Airport, National Highway, Railway Line and other establishments in its vicinity have been protected. A total area of 68000 hectares and a population of 300000 are benefitted.
